What type of connectors does Dynamo Playgrounds use?
Dynamo’s metal junctions are the magic that enables Dynamo designers to create our ever-growing collection of unrivalled play structures.
The team examined every possible variation of plastic and steel connector, but many used connecting screws and pins that ultimately damaged the ropes in time. This exhaustive search resulted in the creation of the DX system of moulded high-density aluminum.
Compressing with 120 tons of force gives them incredible strength and a beautifully smooth finish. This system eliminates any risk of friction at connection points and ensures that the rope’s integrity and longevity are never compromised. Dynamo even created a portable machine press that can be used to repair a structure on site in the rare case of extreme damage.

What kind of ropes are used?
Dynamo’s engineers have created the safest, longest lasting, most attractive cabling in the playground industry. Using proprietary technology, they’ve infused the beautiful nylon cable coatings with UV protectants and flame retardant solutions in the extrusion process. They use these vibrant threads to weave a braid around 144 strands of galvanized steel to produce the play structure rope. This unique process keeps the ropes beautiful to see, soft to touch and stronger than any other cabling available.
The vibrant colours will immediately appeal to children of all ages, but the ropes will also feel just as good to the touch. A class 8 UV Colourfastness rating keeps the ropes looking new and the special nylon formula and unique weaving of threads means that Dynamo Ropes are resistant to fading, wearing and fraying for years.
What is your design process?
Our methodology is simple: we work with our clients from the conception of a project to its completion and beyond.
We start the process by evaluating the proposed site and giving recommendations to the city officials or landscape architects on what types of equipment are best suited for their needs and space, as well as listen to what our clients had envisioned for the space.
Our business development team and designers then work hand in hand with the designated landscape architects or park planners to come up with a viable design that everyone is pleased with.
Is Dynamo Playgrounds equipment ADA Accessible?
Absolutely! Part of the reason Dynamo Playgrounds was born was to provide accessible playground equipment for children of all ages. Biggo Swings
How are Biggo Swings accessible?
It is important to us to make games that all children can use, no matter their abilities! All swings are at a required height of 12″-18″, allowing children with reduced mobility to be transferred onto the swing. These swings are made with a concave dip in the centre, which creates a gravitational pull, keeping children centered while they swing. Our aim is to cater to the different needs of communities.
How safe are Biggo Swings?
Our Biggo Swings are designed with safety in mind. Our seats are made of aluminum, which allows it to take longer to heat up during sunny days – keeping kids safe as they play! The seat is surrounded by a hollow, rubber bumper. This means if a child is hit by the swing, the shock is absorbed by the rubber and dispersed throughout the ring. This is why after impact testing, this seat scores 16 HICs, the lowest in the industry!
Can I change the seat color of the Biggo swing?
If you want to change the color of the seat you can do so for an added charge but remember, when needing to replace the seat, the color change can make the process a tad more difficult. Also, please keep in mind – there is only one color possible for the rubber bumper. To tell you the truth, the paint color of the seat is chosen for a reason. After our years of experience, we know that it is the best performing and longest lasting option.
Can I buy the seat and combine with my own frame?
Safety and durability is a high priority at Dynamo. We do not combine our swings with other posts due to concerns in structural integrity and quality of material. We want to ensure the game we give you will last. We specifically design our swings and posts with weight and structural quality in mind. Whether you have 4 kids or 8 kids playing together, know our swing systems can take the weight!
What is the difference between your Biggo Swings?
Our swings can also be combined with traditional swing bays, catering to all kids in your communities. The Biggo Ovni and Tres are multi-directional swings that bring an exciting, unpredictable thrill to our swing families. We even took it up a notch with our Biggo Tres, letting kids stand or sit while they enjoy the swing!
Does water get trapped inside?
All Biggo swings have holes in the centre, allowing water to easily drain out of the swing. Rain or shine – know that water won’t get trapped in the swing!
Can the multi-directional swings hit the post?
The swings cannot hit the post. There is a clearance zone between the swing and the post, ensuring the safety of kids as they play!
Do your swings take up a lot of space?
Our swings are perfect for any space requirements. Think of it like this – how many traditional swing bays would be needed to hold this amount of kids? We’ve created a space conscious, fun, inclusive way for kids of all ages to enjoy the swing together, without compromising your footprint!
How long does it take to manufacture?
Our standard games take roughly 12-14 weeks to produce. For games with more customized accessories, production times can be increased.
What if a multi-directional swing detaches from the post?
Although it is very unlikely that the seat would ever detach from the post, there is a safety chain attached that would secure the seat and prevent it from a complete detachment so it never falls to the ground.
Do I need to buy replacement chains from Dynamo?
No! With galvanized steel chains, customers can go to their local supply store and to purchase and replace the chains.
What if a customer requests ropes instead of chain?
Although we do not advertise it or suggest it, we can provide rope instead of a galvanized steel chain for orders in Europe. In this case, we would also provide a rubber sleeve to go over the rope to prevent children from flipping it around. We do not offer this option to orders being installed in the USA.
Rotating Climbers
How is the speed regulated on Rotating Climbers?
All rotating climbers undergo rigorous compliance testing for CSA, ASTM, IPEMA and TUV standards. In its production, the weight of all components come together to ensure the resistance of these games. Whether it’s spun by a group of children or a group of football players, these games will never spin outside of regulations.
How long does it take to manufacture?
Our standard games take roughly 12-14 weeks to manufacture. For games with more customized accessories, production times can be increased.
How are our Rotating Climbers accessible?
Our rotating climbers are equipped with a 12″-18″ transfer deck, allowing children with reduced mobility the opportunity to transfer into this game easily. Children are able to participate in this game by resting on the deck or in the nets, spinning while their friends run and climb!
Are they low maintenance?
Durability is our priority. Our rotating climbers are built with oil- based nylon bearings, meaning that as the game spins, it lubricates itself. For our Super Quad Pods (DX-2500), we use stainless steel ball bearings, which allows the game to spin smoothly without lubrication.
What maintenance solutions do you provide for this game?
We provide a maintenance schedule in all crate packages, and our in-house Product Support team can assist with any additional issues.
For more maintenance issues, please provide us with photos combined with your request and our Product Support team will respond to your request within 2-5 business days.
How do you fix frayed rope?
Our ropes have either a stainless or galvanized steel interior, which means that if fraying happens on the exterior rope, the interior of the rope will not be damaged. We offer quick fixes for rope frayage and cosmetic rope damages. Our 2-sleeve aluminum repair system allows for any rope damage to be quickly covered, keeping your game operational.
How can you fix a game that wobbles when it spins?
This could mean the bearing at the top of the game has shifted slightly and is not lying flat on the post. Quick fix: remove the top cap to expose the bearing, add some grease with the grease gun, spin it 10-20 times and the bearing will sit flat again.
Can we choose our decking colors?
We use a dry applied product that gives superior application & performance, however it is not made in other colors.
Can I customize colors of posts?
Dynamo offers a range of high quality color choices. Have another color in mind? Provide us with the RAL number and we will match your color at an added cost.
Frame Nets
What's the difference between a Frame Net and a Mast Net?
While Mast Nets allow children to climb high, Frame Nets let children climb on and through the frames. This challenges children to think strategically as they climb, working their fitness, agility, navigation and decision-making.
Do you have options for younger children?
Though these games focus on the 5-12 age group, we have many other games that appeal to younger children, allowing them to get acquainted with rope play and climbing skills!
Can this game be customized?
Yes! We are able to customize these game to your communities. Accessories include:
- Slides
- Panels
- Handholds
- Pendulum Steppers
- Spinners
- PE Panels
- Rope Bridges
Do Frame Nets need to be retensioned?
Net re-tensioning is sometimes required after the first 60-90 days of use (a “settling-in” period) and then need to be checked again at regular intervals, as per the set maintenance schedule set by the purchaser. Depending on the size of your net, weathering and volume of kids playing, retensioning will be required at least once in its lifetime.
Are these games accessible?
We can create layered play, allowing wheelchair bound users to play beneath the netting, pulling themselves along using the pendulum steppers or coconut rope! In addition, for children with cognitive disabilities, the bouncing and swaying sensation offered by rope-based games offers vestibular stimulation.
Can my Frame Net be made of wood?
We appreciate the value of natural materials which often brings up this question, which has led Dynamo to invest considerable time and effort into developing the Nature’s Aura product line. Produced using engineered glulam beams, these structures have all of the necessary dependability to meet Dynamo’s high quality standards for a stringent adherence to structural specifications which natural wood members may not have.
How much maintenance do Dynamo games require?
Dynamo’s games are designed with sustainability in mind. They are relatively low maintenance and designed to be durable and long-lasting. Each game will have a set of instructions for best practices of maintenance, and Dynamo offers a comprehensive program for game parts to ensure children can get as much play out of each of our games as possible.
What solutions do you offer for fraying rope?
Our ropes have either a stainless or galvanized steel interior, which means that if fraying happens on the exterior rope, the interior of the rope will not be damage. We offer quick fixes for rope frayage. Our 2- sleeve aluminum repair system allows for any rope damage to be quickly covered, keeping your game operational.
Can I choose the colors?
Dynamo offers a range of colors for ropes and posts. We can work with your theme and color scheme to bring your vision to life! Looking for specific colors for your posts? Provide us with an RAL number and we will aim to match your color at an extra charge.
How long does it take to manufacture a Frame Net?
Our standard games take roughly 12-14 weeks to produce. For games with more customized accessories, production times can be increased.
How are the games sustainable?
At Dynamo, we are very conscious about environmental factors. We follow the dual practices of minimal materials, and maximum durability. Dynamo games use significantly less resources to produce a structure than more standard types of equipment accommodating equal numbers of children. Dynamo games also typically have a longer service life than traditional play equipment; often double the useful life span.
Mast Nets
How do you access the turnbuckles?
Our PIP boxes use stencils to create a small seam surrounding the PIP box lid that allows access to the turnbuckles. PIP boxes can be used when rubber or turf surfacing systems are installed around the mast nets.
What about net retention?
Mast nets will need to be retentioned at least once in their lifetime. The point a net needs retensioning will depend largely on how often it is being used. Dynamo provides a maintenance schedule allowing your park maintenance teams the ability to check nets on a regular basis. All nets have multiple in-ground access points. The rope is attached to a shackle, then attached to a turnbuckle, connected to the base plate. Ropes are retentioned by turning the turnbuckle one corner at a time. If the turnbuckle is at its maximum and the rope still needs additional tension, the turnbuckle can be moved to another hole further back on the base plate.
Are Mast Nets accessible?
We can create layered play, allowing wheelchair users to play beneath the netting, pulling themselves along using the ropes! We are also able to add mats for added accessibility. In addition, for children with cognitive disabilities, the bouncing and swaying sensation offered by rope-based games offers vestibular stimulation.
Can I attach accessories?
Yes! Our mast nets come with a variety of accessories. This includes slides, rope bridges, mats, and many more.
Can I have two nets of different heights?
Yes. Mast nets of different heights can be combined to add more challenge to the playground, allowing kids to play longer, and grow with the game at their neighbourhood park!
How does the post system work?
The centre post has a short inner post which gets bolted to the foundation. The centre post is then put over the inner post plate. This allows for more flexibility in the post. This means that as kids play in the nets, the post will not snap from excess tension.
Do you have options for younger children?
Yes, we do! Our mast nets come in a variety of sizes, starting as short as 8′! This allows for kids between ages 2-5 the chance to get acquainted with rope play and climbing – just like the big kids!
What solutions do you offer for fraying rope?
Our ropes have either a stainless or galvanized steel interior, which means that if fraying happens on the exterior rope, the interior of the rope will not be damage. We offer quick fixes for fraying rope. Our aluminum vandalism repair sleeves allow for any rope damage to be quickly covered, keeping your game operational.
How long does it take to manufacture?
Our standard games take roughly 12-14 weeks to produce. For games with more customized accessories, production times can be increased.
What happens if a child jumps from the top rope?
Our ropes are very flexible, making it difficult for a child to simply jump off. The nets are also always underneath the children when they have climbed high, offering a net to catch them in the event of any jump or fall. Play patterns are that children normally use the nets facing inwards, with three points of contact on the net at any time. The nets are so fun and engaging that the children don’t need to search for more thrills.
What happens if a child fall inside the net?
Firstly, all of our nets are rigorously tested for CSA, ASTM, EN standards by our onsite compliance officers. Our main goal is to ensure that while kids enjoy the adventure, they are safe while they play as well! Our nets are built with staggered cells, meaning if a child falls within the net, they will not fall far before another rope cell catches them – nor will they fall directly to the bottom of the net.
